I believe that higher education will expand knowledge, push boundaries, engage curiosity, and broaden one’s frame of reference, eventually leading to more choices and a richer life.
It is a joy to assist students throughout this transitional phase of life and observe the self-awareness and self-confidence that develops throughout the process.
I hold a graduate-level Certificate of College Counseling from UCLA and a BA in Psychology from the University of Kansas. I started Lewy College Counseling (LCC) in 2012 and have helped students from Bend and across the US find colleges and universities where they are happy and thriving. Before starting LCC, I meandered around from job to job, looking for my career calling. I then took time off to raise my own two children and coached competitive gymnastics for fun. I believe that some people have a calling to one vocation, but most people have a multitude of interests. They follow these into jobs and careers until they have learned all they can and are ready to move on to the next adventure.
I am a member of the Pacific Northwest Association of College Admissions Counselors (PNACAC) and the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA). To stay current in the field of college admissions, I attend regional and national conferences, keep up with current blogs, list-serves, and newsletters and visit dozens of college campuses across the country each year. I offer pro-bono services to those who are in need, and I believe that college counseling should complement and not replace school-based support services.
Porte, thank you so much for giving me the confidence to apply to schools I thought I wouldn’t (but did) get accepted into, and believing in me. Thank you for planting the idea in my head that I have something to offer to others, and thank you for strengthening my voice and my confidence in my writing. Your endless hard work and sacrifice does not go unnoticed!
Thank you for your outlines and suggestions. I am relieved to be your client and see it to be worth every penny! I feel on the right track with manageable tasks to support Sandy in this process.
Thanks so much for helping me in this process. My mom and I really appreciate the difference it made, not only with completing the applications and decisions, but with my confidence in making decisions. I would advise anyone applying to college and making college decisions to see you!
